What We Do in the Shadows season 2 plot: What will happen? At the end of the first season, a HUGE complication was thrown into the mix: Guillermo, who had always dreamed of becoming a vampire, toiling away as Nandor's familiar in a bid to earn his wish, was revealed to be descended from Abraham Van Helsing, the world-renowned vampire hunter.A DNA test revealed his unexpected backstory, and set up the direction of season two rather nicely. John P Johnson/FX'It's one of those delicious plot moments where you have someone who's so subservient and low status, elevated to higher status and he's grappling with that. We realise he's maybe destined to kill everybody,' co-executive producer and writer Stefani Robinson told. She added: 'Before all the vampire-killing stuff, I would like to explore Guillermo as a human being. He's very much a person that lives in the present day with vampires and delving into his real world and how he balances the two, what lies he has to tell to his family.'

I don't know why. Old I have some mistakes, but not too bad I think. This is my cover of 'Juru Selamatku' (My Savior) song. GgLow frequency sound is a bit crapped.

  2. This concept turned into the 2014 cult classic feature film What We Do In The Shadows which Waititi and Clement created and starred in. Just like when vampires get a taste for blood, fans couldn't.

I'm really excited about figuring out what that relationship and what character looks like, especially with Nandor,” she continued. 'But then I think what also makes the show and movies so fun are these sort of bigger-universe elements in that, you know, the idea of a whole lineage of vampire killers and that sort of thing, just sort of broaden the world in a really interesting way. Our options for him are actually pretty exciting.'

Shadows

Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement may not have been household names back in 2014, when the multitalented New Zealanders debuted their indie vampire mockumentary, What We Do in the Shadows — but in the years since its release, you’ve likely seen Waititi’s directorial talents on display in Thor: Ragnarok or The Hunt for the Wilderpeople, or admired Clement’s performances in projects as varied as FX’s Legion and Disney’s Moana. (Or maybe you were ahead of the curve and watched their earlier collaboration, Flight of the Conchords, in which case, you get bonus points.)Somehow, despite their increasingly busy schedules, the actor-writer-directors managed to stake out (get it?) enough time to adapt their quirky horror comedy for television, relocating the supernatural shenanigans from Wellington, New Zealand, to Staten Island, New York, and introducing us to a new cast of bloodsuckers - and you don't need to have any familiarity with the movie to follow along with their hijinks. Waititi and Clement stay off camera this time around, but still divide directorial and executive producing duties on the FX series, with Clement also writing a number of episodes alongside executive producer Paul Simms. We soon learn that Nandor, Laszlo, and Nadja were sent by their vampiric higher-ups to conquer “the New World” centuries ago, but instead have spent most of that time skulking around their shared house and avoiding anything that could approximate assimilation. One particularly hilarious scene involves Nandor and Guillermo’s excursion to a grocery store, where we get a sense of exactly how disconnected from society the vampires are.

Thankfully, they’re still up to date on their pop culture references — Nandor considers Edward from Twilight a style inspiration. The show also looks set to deepen the mythology established in the movie, introducing a new breed of supernatural creature in the pitch-perfect Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch), an “energy vampire” that feeds by either enraging its victims or boring them with tedious conversations. (We probably all know one.). What We Do in the Shadows mines plenty of effective humor from the vampires’ discomfort with the human world, but much like the movie, the series really shines in the banter between the cast, and the surreal nature of their various supernatural abilities.

Waititi’s direction on the pilot, paired with Clement’s well-paced script, certainly plays to the actors’ strengths. With 10 episodes and, ironically, a much higher budget on the series than Clement and Waititi had when making the film, there’s plenty of narrative real-estate to explore here. That freedom is demonstrated in the first four episodes sent to critics, which see the vampires dealing with scenarios as varied as local politics, a pack of werewolves (who are decidedly more like swearwolves than their New Zealand counterparts), and a night out in a Manhattan club.
