Acronis Clone Disk Operation Failed
The cloning process is now complete. While the computer is shut down you may disconnect the source disk from your computer. Now turn on your computer and you will boot to your Kingston SSD. - I am attempting to clone the old drive onto the new drive using the Acronis True Image WD Edition. I downloaded it recently and it is up to date. I have now made several attempts to clone the old drive, all of which have failed. For the most part, I get past the point where I restart the computer and the Operation Progress window opens.
- I have followed instructions upon instructions and I still get 'clone disk operation failed' error message during cloning operations.
I have two SSD's installed on my system under Win7 plus one external HD via usb.Disk 0 has two Primary partitions, C: and D:Disk 1 has three primaries, F: T: and S:I have used Acronis True Image 2010 and earlier versions for years to create backup images (tib files) of C: and D: from Disk 0 to the external drive. Never had any problems other than those created by me.I just had the need to back up the S: partition for the first time.
I got a message saying 'The Operation Failed'. I tried to do the same with the other two partitions with the same error.
I seems ATI doesn't like to create a tib file from Disk 1.I then booted to the ATI CD and tried again. The operation appeared to complete.
The tib file was created but when I tried to restore from it ATI said the file was corrupt.I then replaced the Disk 1 SSD with the old spinner and and the same thing happened.In summary, ATI will do its job correctly from Disk 0 but fails when it tries to backup a partition on Disk 1.Can someone help me?Thank you. (this may start a flame war.)You swapped out the Disk 1 SSD and made it a Disk 1 HDD and the ATI backup still failed with the same error????a) Swap the SATA cables of Disk 0 and Disk 1 - try again.b) Do you have more than 2 SATA ports? Can you move the Disk 1 cable to another port and try again? If not can you swap the ports of Disk 0 and Disk 1? Acronis True Image 2013 clone disk step-by-step instructionsMany people choose to clone their hard drive for security reasons and protection against hackers and viruses. Cloning a hard drive with Acronis True Image 2013 is not only possible, it is very simple procedure that should not take long depending on the size of the hard drive. Please take note that Acronis True Image 2013 can only clone an entire basic disk, not just a single partition or a dynamic disk drive.To check to see if your disk is basic or dynamic use the Windows Disk Management program on your computer. Once you have opened the program, click the Start-Run option then type 'diskmgmt.msc.' If it shows that the disk is 'basic' you can continue cloning. If the disk is dynamic you cannot clone the disk, however there is a work around. If you create a backup of the source dynamic disk, you can then restore it to a new disk.

If the newer, or destination, disk is partitioned you will have to erase all of the data on that disk to continue with the cloning, so click the OK button.6. If you happen to be cloning a disk with an active operating system, your computer will have to reboot. Click the Reboot option to continue the cloning process. If you press Cancel the entire operation will be aborted.8.
When the operation is completed you will see a blue screen telling you to press any button to shut down the computer. Once your system is shut down, remove one of the hard drives and viola! Operation complete.Note: If you are cloning a system disk, it is highly recommended that you do it from Acronis Bootable Media.
