It seems that other than the 'dir' command, every command I run from my dos prompt, I get an 'Access is denied.' Example: C: Users aaghaipconfig Access is denied. I've checked my UAC settings and made sure they're set to 'Never Notify'.

Did you add the Attributes column in My Computer and can see the R flag, or are you seeing the Read Only box is shaded when you right click the folder and click Properties?That box will always be shaded when you view a folders properties, it just means you haven't set or unset it for the files in the folder. It does not indicate if the folder itself is set Read Only.

It can only be used to change the attribute on files.To add the Attributes column:Click the down arrow next to Views, select DetailsRight click on one of the column headers ( Name for example)Click More.Check the box in front of AttributesClick OKMost programs ignore the read only attribute on folders. You should be able to click the box to remove the check, then apply to unset the files. If it appears checked and shaded again when you re-open the Properties window, then you might not have permission to change the attributes of the files inside.In that case use the attrib command from an Elevated Command Prompt.
